Tekmira's studies required injection 30 minutes after infection. The big question is whether their stuff works when the infection has taken hold in the body -- in other words, when the person has become symptomatic so they know they are sick! Also, it seems to require several injections over a period of time. This makes it difficult to use in epidemic situations, where terribly ill people would have to be able to come in to a medical facility for a series of injections.

Of course, they may be able to formulate an oral form. Who knows? Chances are the future of nanotechnology in the infectious disease area will look a lot like the current use of antibiotics on bacteria -- lots of different companies providing products, some of which work on some infections, some of which work on others.
