the real purpose of this holiday. It has come to mean simply a day
off of work to most, family picnics, and holiday sales for retailers....but it should be so much more than that.
How many of us really and truly appreciate the sacrifices paid by our Veterans, especially those that gave their lives and those who
came came with bodies, minds and spirits horribly shattered. They were our friends and loved ones... the mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers..the husbands and wives, leaving behind devastated
families and loved ones....Children to grow up never knowing the
love of Mom or Dad. Perhaps equally tragic is that these Vets were
deprived of the love of their child...a child that many of them
never even got to meet. There is so much truth to the cliche that
FREEDOM ISN'T FREE. Although I served in the military, I can't help
but feel somewhat guilty to call myself a Veteran...I don't hold a
candle to those that paid so dearly... Nobody was shooting at me,
so I seek no credit, but I ask, I pray, that you take a moment to
say a heartfelt Thank You to those that gave their all.
