Don't think I ever told you about this. About 6 years ago I was driving down a highway and saw a ton of California poppies in the ditch.
Just happened to have a bucket and shovel with me, so I dug up two clumps and planted them in the lower part of my back yard.
Couple weeks later they were toast, dead.
The next spring though, they came back, and there was maybe 5x as many.
The next year they came back with a vengence and since then have been spreading across that part of my yard, into all my neighbours yards and on two sides into their neighbours two doors down even...no my neighbours don't hate me, they love them.
I just counted over 3,000 blooming today in my yard alone and they'll keep going until into September.
