Beyond BP--REALITY CHECK....Get real!!.....
BP's "blow-up" could easily have been the occurance of nearly ANY other of Big Oil company name.
Here's reality. Get real.
Evaluate what resources YOU use--EACH and EVERY day:
Everything that you have.... Everything.
To make it, you either have to grow it or you mine it. Plain and simple!! No other choices. None. Nada.
What??....Me....I use all that stuff...every day....??? Naw....not ME.
SORRY--Much as you might not like mining..... or oil.... or other commodities, you need them ALL of them to have all those neat "trinkets" in your life...
Look around your home...... everything you use and enjoy was either mined or drilled or in some way "pulled" from our planet (drywall, concrete, glass, metal, all plastics, carpeting, etc.) or grown (lumber, corn, other grains) from trees and crops for a multitude of comsumptive products.
Try living without toilet paper.
Look at your car... lots of metal.
You like your computer??
You like your TeeVee??
You like your car??
Lot's of "rare earth metals" inside ALL those necessities.
You like electricty???? Sorry....
Coal for power generation.
It's an easy bet you like having those lights on all the time.....and your TV or computer don't work so well without it (it is oil...or coal....or Gawd....No please, not nuclear!!).
Without your oil producers....you don't drive and you don't have a multitude of the THOUSANDS of "plastic" products that YOU enjoy every day.
Without mining, there's a ton of other household items that you'd have to live without.
Without.....
Come'on......Get real.
Or go back 2,000 years and live in a cave. (PS--Sorry....No cave TV.)
