I have a 23 year old that has IBS and takes over $500 worth of medicine a month to remain functional. She has graduated from college and fortunately has found a job so that she will have health insurance. She never would have been able to get insurance on her own and I think there are a lot of people out there that are broke b/c of medical bills through no fault of their own. In all honesty, our premiums are killing us. I could retire if I wasn't paying $700 a month for a 5k deductible policy. I think we all ought to be offered the same plan Congress has at the same rate. I agree with you on the capital gains...we have an apt. building that we will probably not be able to sell until we die b/c of the capital gains, thank goodness the return is good on it.
