IMO, that is a bunch of nonsense. You don't go all over the world giving road shows to oil companies if that is the plan. The plan is to auction off the blocks and that is ocurring right now. STP would look like complete fools if they pulled some of the blocks and gave them to someone in the middle of this process.

Quite frankly it sounds like the interest is pretty pathetic. The turnout in Houston was low and I know this because I was there. They have only 8 companies which have shown interest which isn't particularly encouraging either. All they have is some widely spaced 2D seismic to go by in many of the blocks. I hope STP gets good bids in every block but I kind of doubt that is going happen. Sonangol and Petrobras just don't seem all that interested and that is probably because they have better opportunities for deepwater exploration in their own waters.

As far as STP knowing anything about what is in the JDZ, I don't think they have a clue. And this comes from talking face-to-face to the people that should know. They are not being given accurate or timely info by the Chinese either and they are none too happy about it.
