I respect your decision. It's usually the best plan to do things on the up and up.

With respect to the boilerplate confidentiality provision... It deals with the discovery of documents within the context of litigation. In other words, it says (my paraphrase) "this e-mail is not discoverable by any opposing party in a lawsuit because it is privileged and confidential." It isn't really designed to prevent you from disclosing the email contents to other people in normal/everyday life. I had to write a similar provision for my law firm's email account a few years back. Either way, it's no big deal and hopefully we find out soon! :)
