oo_buck: while I'm not a "purist" no-till gardener, it's a basic principle for real sustainable living. First, what are weeds? Okay, I've pulled thistle, but it's returned to the soil in a short time.

Reclaiming soil can take time and composting is essential. However, once a parcel of land is set, little organic matter is removed and therefore little needs to be restored. I'm a fan of planting clover for cover.
