How odd that you should mention this bank. I just happen to have a long time friend who worked at this bank until November 2009. United Commercial Bank is now East West Bank which is a Chineese bank located in the U.S.

In November, 2009, United Commercial Bank, based in San Francisco, CA was closed by the California Department of Financial Institutions, and the FDIC was named Receiver. No advance notice was given (not abnormal in bank closings like this). All deposit accounts, excluding certain brokered deposits, were transferred to East West Bank, based in Pasadena, CA.
