Well x86 has been bashing its head against the embedded
control market for a quarter century. Without an overriding
need for x86 ISA compatibility system designers naturally
avoids the inherently poor price/performance and power/
performance of x86. That includes the vast majority of the
embedded control market.

Not that this helps AMD. Its Alchemy line attempts to push
MIPS into the low power/cost, single scalar performance
segment where ARM utterly dominates.
