If you were trying to figure out if a stove element was hot, and the cook standing by your side continued to tell you it is cold, even after your touched it and burned your finger, would you continue to solicit his advice or opinion? Having proved himself either incompetent given his inability to evaluate the state of the stove or having ulterior motive in seeing you burned is irrelevant, but your continued trust in him as a good source of information speaks volumes!
