I can only guess like everyone else. There are some well thought-out reasons that have been raised by people much more knowledgeable than myself. Of course there are some crazy pump and bash models that have been floated too. In my head there are many options why.

1. At the time he did not have the loan secured.
2. He had part of the loan secure.
3. He used those shares to secure deals.
4. He needs to increase the # shares to secure the loan.
5. He wants to shake out the weak hands to buy back cheap.
6. He is a wanker and just wanted the cash (lol).
7 Other reasons not on the radar yet such as deals in the making.
8. ETC--

My best guess is 3, followed by 1, 2, 4 and 7..
