If I had built up a company over several years and had a personal interest in its well being I can guarantee that I would want to oversee EVERY document carefully and personally BEFORE I let it go to anyone. So the CEO being sick delaying the process makes sence, even if he is not the buyer. This is not a deligatable task, if you care at all about the company and people that helped you build it.
