The government of Canada will be providing 5 million dollars over 5 years to SurfNet. Far Vista Interactive Corporation extends its congratulations to SurfNet. We look forward to participating in this cutting edge initiative. This funding from NSERC will be used by SurfNet to pay for many projects including the research activity they undertake on our behalf. SurfNet's work for Far Vista Interactive Corporation will be the foundation for creating a basic platform that can move interactive multiplayer gaming onto the iPad, iPhone and other touch screen devices.

Dr. Kevin Schneider, SurfNet member from the University of Saskatchewan, says, "We are excited to be accessing such high quality media assets from the game Far Vista Tournament: Run The Gauntlet as we assemble surface computing versions of the game. It greatly aids our research to partner with Far Vista Interactive Corporation's experts in interactive gaming. Researchers from across Canada will be involved with Far Vista Interactive Corporation in this project."

Researching such touch screen devices as the iPad, iPhone, table top home entertainment devices and Smart Board interactive devices, SurfNet will determine the viability of playing Far Vista Tournament: Run The Gauntlet on these dynamic devices. The SurfNet will migrate elements of Far Vista Tournament: Run The Gauntlet game to run on surface computers such as Apple's iPad, iPhone, and other manufacturers' touch screen devices. They will test the G3's and wireless network capability to run our multiplayer game. Currently the majority of games provided to phone device users use the mobile network mostly to download content. SurfNet and FVSTA will perform research that strives to take advantage of the specific abilities of these networks in order to try and give players an opportunity they are not currently experiencing. To date the iPhone has over 100,000 applications available to it.

Richard Buckley, CEO, FVSTA says, "We are excited to be a part of cutting edge research and development. Video gaming is exploding across mobile phones. As their capabilities increase and the band width of their networks expands the end users game experience is enhanced."
