I've been doing some more research on the plant in Jeddah, and I think the appointment of Andrew Robinson is confirmation that the plant in Jeddah is real, and maybe already finished!

If this is the case, then this is HUGE NEWS!

Based in Riyadh, Mr. Robinson will focus on promoting alliances and strategic partnerships for the broader application of Solterra's quantum dot and quantum dot solar cell technologies. His appointment is part of Solterra's strategic focus on establishing a strong and sustainable presence throughout the region.

First there was this summit...

Solterra Renewable Technologies to present at Saudi Arabia's 'Kingdom Project Expansion and Investment Summit'

Stephen Squires, CEO of Solterra, said:

"It is only logical that renewable energy technologies are of paramount interest in the Kingdom and the region. We are very fortunate to be the only renewable energy firm invited to participate in this exclusive international event."

Then there was this announcement...

Solterra to set up solar plant in Saudi Arabia

18 June 2009
JEDDAH - Solterra Renewable Technologies Inc. has made significant progress in the selection process by an agency of the Saudi government to establish a thin-film quantum dot solar cell manufacturing and distribution facility in the Kingdom, company CEO Stephen Squires said.

If selected, the Solterra solar cell facility would be part of an initiative to build a transmission super grid of power plants and power lines to supply energy to Europe and to seawater desalination plants in the Middle East and North Africa.

The initiative has been spearheaded by the Trans-Mediterranean Renewable Energy Cooperation, or TREC, a consortium led by the renowned "Club of Rome," which includes the German Aerospace Bureau and several universities in Europe and the Middle East.

Squires said "we have been engaged in preliminary discussions for more than six months and are now in advanced discussions with the Saudi government agency responsible for these decisions. We have undergone an incredibly in-depth due diligence review of our science and our business plan. The due diligence process was conducted on-site by a European consulting and analysis firm. Early discussions have led us to believe that we are a frontrunner in the selection process."

He added that "the super grid initiative has attracted a growing number of powerful backers."

Then there was this one...

Solterra has started building its first solar production plant in Jeddah City, in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Arabian government is building six new, cosmopolitan cities over the next 10 years. Jeddah itself is planned to be refurbished, but the new King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) and the Knowledge Economic City (KEC) will be powered by a modern, sustainable, PV grid system and segments of this will employ Solterra's QD technology.

Steve Squires, CEO of Solterra, says mass production will begin in Q1 2010: 'There are several solar module manufacturers ready and waiting to transfer our printed cells into large area devices. We expect to start shipping at the end of Q1.'

I can not believe that these are just rumors!

The imminent ability to sell stand alone quantum dots in large quantities at attractive pricing into various markets, while continuing to develop breakthrough solar cell technology, undoubtedly will generate significant revenue for Solterra, Quantum Materials Corporation and its shareholders."

Happy Trading,
Danny
