However, Intel definitely is earning a 'follower' reputation with new x86 processor technology!

I guess you have to count your victories where you find
them, even a lame moral victory like this. Yay, AMD had
the first 64 bit x86 chip. Meanwhile convoys of trucks
carrying Intel cash to the bank continue unabated.

AMD was first to market with SIMD FP instructions to
speed up 3D games. What was the lasting effect of that
leadership position for AMD?
