"That she is playing to the audience is an explanation which is not rebutting the actual statements by mrs. Sebelius...."  Just as your response, and the one Sebelius has not even made, do not rebut the letter which was quoted here.  I haven't even looked at this enough to know the exact claim.  I merely commented 1) on a remark that implied that any finding of fraud after the filing of a claim was somehow unreasonable or suspect; 2) that I didn't believe Sebelius would address it; and 3) that those who didn't like insurance companies would just skip on to attack on other grounds.  You returned the question, "why does mrs. Sebelius utter these claims if there is no ground?", as if her claim were proof of itself.  I really can't tell you why people, particularly politicians, dissemble so often--but they do.  In this case, I don't know who is dissembling, or why.  The argument could also turn to either side based on nothing more than the willingness of many people to believe what they wish to believe, which is maybe a little less devious than dissembling, but no more useful in finding the truth.

I'll add that, to my certain and direct knowledge, the "Blues" have not always been upright citizens, but the present claim seems pretty drastic, so I'll wait and see what further information is developed.  Rest assured that, if the Blues are lying, Washington is simply crawling with politicians who will jump on it, prove it, and use it as a reason for more legislation and regulation.  If they are not lying, I expect the matter to fade away without a lot of media attention.
