The roll of an MM is to fill his buy and sell orders. They are not necessarily "traders". They make their money from the spread.
My guess would be that someone has placed a large block of shares with Schwab and wants them sold. I suspect the float is increasing and buy orders are not being filled with shares from retail sales, but from blocks of shares placed for sale.
