Did you try clearing your cache?

I "automatically" purge my cache every time I shut down the machine. Since I use a proxy server, I tried purging the proxy software's cache. Didn't help. However, I had thought the problem wasn't mine. When I type siliconinvestor into the Google search box, the returned list is topped with

Silicon Investor
Silicon Investor is currently down for routine maintenance,
and should be online at approximately 2:00 PM PT.
Description: Stock discussion site.

And this has nothing to do with anything on my machine.

From previous experience I suspect the problem may be geographical. I'm located about 1 1/2 hours drive south of Silicon Valley.
