Hey all. Please don't bite my head of on this question. I am fairly new to the whole scene and am a buy and forget I have it kind of girl. It has worked so far, but I am trying to figure this out.

When people talk about getting their initial investment back, and playing with "free" shares doesn't this cause a tax nightmare at the end of the year? In the long run, don't you pay out more in taxes? And if the stock fairy takes it soaring, wouldn't you not make as much because you reduced your shares?

Thanks and good luck to all!
