This is a state that had long been among the nation's leaders in per-capita income. For 60 years or so, we had it made, even with the cyclical downturns.


Not anymore. We have dropped to the bottom 10 in per-capita income, a fall-through-the-trap-door plummet that stuns even seasoned economists. Our children — our resources for the future — are leaving the state in droves in search of jobs.
