It sounds like it is a dispute in the way their agreement is structured with AMZN.

Maybe cashflow issues?

Maybe..but from the article:

"said that Expedia breached the contract by "refusing to pay the amounts owed to Amazon.com unless Amazon.com renegotiated" its agreement to offer Expedia's services"
