U.S. Coal Industry Leaders on Capitol Hill Today Talking Clean Coal
by AlwaysGreen - April 15th, 2010
Today was a fairly interesting day as the leaders of many of the U.S.s largest coal companies and coal associations were called to the Capitol today to discuss clean coal and mine safety.

The interesting part is that with all the talk of clean coal technology over the years, the coal companies seem to be nowhere on the actual technology. Or at least not as far as long as they made it appear.

While on Capitol Hill the coal industry was talking with the House of Representatives stating that they needed more time to develop clean coal technology before steep penalties were placed on carbon emissions or else the economy risked losing more jobs. The head of the Ohio Coal Association made a similar case saying that the House climate change bill didn’t offer as much assistance for developing clean coal technology as some claimed.

Representative Edward Markey (D – Mass.) stated that the bill would contain $60 billion in assistance but said that the coal industry needs to stop trying to stall climate change legislation and that the recent mine collapses are an indication that action is needed now.

But we did notice a lack of discussion on carbon capture and sequestration which we thought was working well around the country and globe

CCTC I believe is in the right place at the right time to capitalize on the green movement!
