A stock lot for sale-trade can't also be shorted or at least that's the suggetion I've read and does make some sense. I believe the suggestion is to set a high price with GTC to keep it in force. I believe that's what you're referring to, i.e. limiting shorters borrowing capacity can help attain higher price. Some broker-dealers will refuse the trade at a price outside what THEY consider an appropriate range and I suspect they may be those that loan shares for shorting.

It depends whether your owned shares can be borrowed for shorting. You might ask your broker, and you can request they be removed from borrowing.

I prefer the later. Some dealers (from reports) only allow borrowing on shares that are marginable. I would ask your broker-dealer.
