The Clean Coal Summit would be a perfect occasion for China to announce a series of policy decisions and business deals. I guess all partners involved have been ordered to put communication on hold. There's a lot at stake here: for us it's mainly a business deal, but international relations are a big deal and you don't just ignore a big player's right to initiate the chain of news events. China needs to convince it's own population that it's working on important issues like the environment. There are 1.5 billion people to please and it would be a huge mistake to let a foreign partner (especially a small American 'capitalist' company) steal the honour of announcing news this valuable. That would be a plain insult for both the Chinese government and the Chinese people (although I have enough reasons to doubt whether the Chinese population will get this information at all...)

Second, there's the complicated international political situation. There's the US-China cooperation in which CCT Inc. is only a tiny detail. No matter how important their technology is in turning this cooperation into a successful strategy CCTI does not call the shots in this story.

No matter what you think about communism, it's a factor you don't put aside. Not even in business.

Bloomberg has it's own agenda. They'll obviously wait until the have more information about the whole coal business before releasing anything on CCT Inc. Bloomberg is probably watching the Clean Coal Summit and if China announces a vast range of decisions and deals concerning clean coal investments, it would be a wise move to include all this in the feature article.

I have no connection with the Chinese government nor with Bloomberg, but that's what I would do if I were them. The news about the deal is probably going to be announced at the end of the Clean Coal Summit and Business Week will publish the whatever they have about one second later. I could be wrong though, because there's no way to know these things for sure. At a certain point all you can rely on is common sense. And in my experience not even common sense will guarantee a risk free tour through the stock market. Especially when there's a political giant involved. And in this case, there are two of them. Do not underestimate the power of either the US or China. wink
