TAIPEI, Dec 14, 2004 (AFX-Asia via COMTEX) --Macronix International Co Ltd (2337.TW) said it has no comment on reports that Spansion LLC, a joint venture between US-based Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD) and Japan's Fujitsu Ltd, is to take on the company as a partner to make mirror flash memory chips.

Earlier, the Economic Daily News reported that, at an official announcement expected next week, Spansion will likely introduce Macronix to its clients as a contract-manufacturer of mirror flash memory chips.

Once the world's largest flash memory chip supplier, Spansion has seen its market share slashed to 13.5 pct from 30 pct due to fierce competition from Samsung Electronics Co and Intel Corp, it said.

At 9.16 am, Macronix was limit-up 0.50 twd at 7.65.
