What % of waste wood is the Laidlaw plant going to use? Didn't the permit application say that the majority of the wood wasn't going to be high grade! It seems I remember seeing something that said the boiler was capable of using "all types" of wood. There obviously is a matter of efficacy, however low grade wood will produce the desired effect needed for the boiler as well, it's just a matter of how much? I lived in Vermont for 24 years and am very familiar with Berlin and NH. I don't see wood being an issue regardless of what form it is in, as long as it is used responsibly. If most of the biomass will be coming from treetops, branches and other scraps what's the issue? Surely you don't think 750,000 tons annually of good trees are going to be cut down? I can understand peoples concerns for their forestland, but don't you think it's more fear than anything. What proof is there that Laidlaw will rape the NH forestland?
