Why hasn't VOD/VZ asked about Nextel talks ... would think Nextel might make a nice exit strategy for VOD out of VZ ... such as if VZw agrees to pay VOD $XXX for VOD's stake in VZw, and VOD uses the cash to buy 100% of Nextel . . . .

Then VOD would be free to roll out that marvelous W-CDMA technology that is all the talk. OR COULD IT BE that VOD is catching on (e.g., by being on the wrong side of things in Japan) to the fact that CDMA2000 romps W-CDMA ???
