I think you are splitting hairs here. No matter how close you get, it will always take time to transfer the image. "Real time" is understood here as meaning that while the scan is being done, a doctor could be using the data, rather than scanning and then waiting for results to be processed.

Ultrasound is considered "real time" as well, but if you actually look at the screen, there is a split second of lag time.
