$oldier, when you earn a few extra bucks somewhere, you have some options as to what we do with the money. You can go out on the town and party, you can buy a nice newer car with it, or you can maybe take a nice overseas holiday somewhere.
Or you can just go on living like you usually did, and buy up some shares of a promising little company that no one has heard of. That is pretty much how I have approached things... and I have been adding a few here and a few there. No one would know from looking at me, and my bank account doesn't have much to show for it most days, because the value of the shares hasn't changed a whole lot. Meanwhile, I am not suffering for it - I just go on working and living like I did.
But, someday that could all change. Things could fall into place and there could be a very nice return on all the shares I have been accumulating bit by bit. Some folks have called me a squirrel (you might like that SuperSquirrel) - because I just keep stashing away the "acorns" like winter is coming.
Someday things could change... meanwhile, I just add a few more shares to the stash! Not much more to it than that!
