For the sake of argument, let's suppose that the meeting takes place as planned next month, and drilling results still have not been made public.

A few disgruntled shareholders try to scold Peter about the mixed messages of results. He giggles, claims he can't really talk about it because of legalities with Sinopec, and moves on. A few more disgruntled shareholders try to speak up and get the same treatment. Aside from tarnishing Peter's appreciated pleasant smile, how does it really change anything with the company?

Why would there be a need to cancel the meeting to avoid this situation?

I honestly don't understand why it is a game-changer worthy of canceling a meeting.
