adog , don't think the U.S. can go bankrupt since our debt is in dollars and we are the bank, but could go hyperinflation dolar to zero. Or not. Possibly the balance between Government deficit / Fed money and a continuance of this nasty deflation / debt reduction cycle, could go on for some time in an extended downturn with big swings in the stock market but no real progress in ecoconmies. hge
