I lived in Europe 25 y and cost of energy required to heat the 2000 square feet house is at least twofold. In USA most people pay attention to final cost of the house rather then energy efficiency. That may change with rising gas price. The ratio of gas price to average house income is very low comparing to europe. That is why most people in us dont priororitize energy efficient solutions. IMO
