Well, it depends on what's patented exactly. I don't think the keyword or the provisioning of keywords could or would be part of the patent (just speculation). It's the platform they are creating to support it that is probably unique and patentable.

There are already services doing similar things.

Found this 84444.com

From what I can tell, this site is offering a less evolved (remembering most of us have not yet seen what Go800 looks like or can do) service than Go800.

This company is also using keywords and a short code that are sent and received via 84444. Seems they are aimed more at marketing campaigns rather than the uses we've seen discussed here for Go800.

Doesn't concern me that there may already be some companies doing some similar things. At some point as this market matures, there is going to be competition. I also believe it is a big enough market for several companies to do just fine in.

If GoIP is creating a superior platform and interface and get themselves established as a leader in the market, that will be the key to sustained success.

For instance, we all know Google and Yahoo!, but few people remember Excite, HotBot, and other early search engines. Yahoo first and then Google were able to establish as the leaders in search engine field and the ad revenue flowed to them and away from others until they dried up.

What we are about to experience and hopefully succeed in is like the Oklahoma Land Rush. There are plenty of customers for everyone right now. It's getting a great piece of mind real estate and holding it that will be key.
