9th Circuit upholds 'under God' in Pledge
Greg Halvorson

Good news. In a 2-1 ruling the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the integrity of the Pledge of Allegiance. At issue was whether the words "under God" violated the "separation of church and state," and whether America-loathing atheist, Mike Newdon, could pervert the Constitution as a one-man wrecking ball.

The Court set Mike down. And the reason is that the Founding Fathers embraced God. Separation of church and state, constitutionally, meant that no specific religion was to be sanctioned, and that worship should be local and free of coercion.

In more news (bad, if you're atheist), the Court also upheld "In God We Trust" on coins and currency.

Looks like Mr. Newdon will have to write checks.
