PORT HOPE -It's been a little sleepy around the Sunbay Energy Corporation office at 35 Walton St. in Port Hope lately, but president Jordan Oxley said that will soon change.
"We have been focused on corporate development lately with part of Sunbay being purchased by Copernic," Oxley said. "We've been working through that the past couple of months."
He said the purchase means that Sunbay will be even more financially stable and that they're currently looking at a few different options for their energy-from-waste facility with Europlasma, a company that operates out of France, with facilities in France, Korea, Japan and now Canada.
They lost their opportunity to purchase the lands at Wesleyville Rd. and Hwy. 401 as REM purchased the property for an energy from waste facility, but they do have their eye on three or four different properties in the Port Hope area.
"We are committed to staying in Port Hope," Oxley said. "We made an investment in the community and have been a good corporate citizen."
Although things have been static lately, Oxley said they hope to have everything resolved and back on track very soon.
"We will reinstate the info centre once we have some updates to provide," he said.
The original schedule was to have the ribbon-cutting this spring.
