The only way for European manufacturers like Mercedes or VW/Audi to fight a lower dollar is to open factories here and lower their costs proportionally by hiring and paying workers in U.S. dollars.

Last time the Yen was inflated relative to the dollar, the Japanese mfgrs did just that, and it was a godsend for economies in states like Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, etc. where textiles and other factory workers were losing their jobs as the economy evolved.
