10:02:05 Today COIN Converted Organics In Pact With Acme Smoked Fish For Collection, Processing Of Food Waste>COIN

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 09, 2010--

Converted Organics Inc. (NASDAQ:COIN) announced today that the Company and
Acme Smoked Fish Corporation, one of the largest processors of smoked fish and
herring in the United States, have agreed to work together in the collection,
processing and conversion of food waste from Acme. Acme is a client of
Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Filco Environmental Services, which has provided Converted
Organics with organic waste from its food service clients since 2008.

"Acme Smoked Fish is a tremendous source of high-quality organic nutrients
for our all-natural organic fertilizers. We are very pleased that our
long-standing associate Filco Environmental Services facilitated this mutually
beneficial relationship between Converted Organics and Acme," said Jack
Walsdorf, Vice President of Waste Management for Converted Organics. "Food
waste from fish processing plays an important role in our California operation,
and we expect it will be a valuable component of the organic fertilizer
products manufactured in our New Jersey plant as we prepare for the upcoming
spring 2010 growing season."

"Partnering with Filco and Converted Organics to find alternative ways to use
our organic waste has given us the ability to help minimize the negative
environmental impacts often associated with waste disposal. At the same time,
the use of our waste in this sustainable process enables Acme to positively
influence not only the environment but also society and the economy by
contributing to the development of high-quality organic fertilizer products,"
said Gabriel Viteri, Director of Quality Assurance / R&D, Acme Smoked Fish
Corporation.

About Acme Smoked Fish Corporation

Acme Smoked Fish Corp. was founded by Harry Brownstein, who, after emigrating
to the U.S. from Russia in the early 1900s, found employment in the smoked fish
business as a wagon jobber. Harry purchased fresh, hot smoked fish from
smokehouses in his horse-drawn wagon and hand-delivered them to small grocery
and appetizing stores. Eventually, through hard work and dedication, Harry
achieved his dream of owning a smokehouse.

This year, Acme Smoked Fish Corp. marks five decades as a family owned and
operated smokehouse. Acme Smoked Fish Corporation, located at 30 Gem Street in
the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, is now one of the largest single-plant
processors of smoked fish and herring in the United States, and it is still
family-owned and operated.

About Filco Environmental Services

Filco began nearly 100 years ago with a horse and wagon picking up trash and
recyclables in the garment district of Manhattan. Today Filco is a 4th
generation family owned business and a pioneer in the evolution of the waste
removal and recycling industry. Filco is committed to protecting the
environment. We operate a fleet of over 40 trucks and are the first NYC
commercial waste and recycling hauler to use the low decibel, non-polluting,
compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks.

About Converted Organics Inc.

Converted Organics (NASDAQ:COIN, www.convertedorganics.com), based in Boston,
MA, is dedicated to producing high-quality, all-natural, organic soil amendment
and fertilizer products through food waste recycling. The Company uses its
proprietary High Temperature Liquid Composting (HTLC) system, a proven,
state-of-the-art microbial digestion technology, to process various
biodegradable food wastes into dry pellet and liquid concentrate organic
fertilizers that help grow healthier food and improve environmental quality.
Converted Organics sells and distributes its environmentally-friendly
fertilizer products in the retail, professional turf management, and
agribusiness markets.

Converted Organics' flagship manufacturing facility is located in Woodbridge,
New Jersey. A second manufacturing site is located in Gonzales, California.
Converted Organics' products have been tested in numerous field trials for more
than a dozen crops with the result that, on average, the net value of the
farmer's crop increased 11-16 percent, depending on the particular crop and
product application. This is due, in part, to the disease suppression
characteristics of the product, which reduce or eliminate the need for other
costly, often toxic, crop protection applications. In a number of lab and field
trials, Converted Organics' liquid product has been shown to be effective in
mitigating powdery mildew, a leaf fungus that affects most plants and grasses
and restricts the flow of water and nutrients to the plant. Increased use of
nitrogen in commercial agriculture and turf grass applications, such as on golf
courses, has reduced the soil's ability to absorb nitrogen and other nutrients.
Using the products produced by Converted Organics helps restore the soil by
replenishing these micronutrients. This reduces the amount of nitrogen required
in a virtuous cycle that benefits from long-term use. As a result, use of the
product reduces chemical run-off to streams, ponds and rivers, an objective
with significant long-term benefits to the environment.

Converted Organics' products have a long shelf life compared to many other
organic fertilizers. The Company's fertilizer products can be used on a
stand-alone basis or in combination with more traditional fertilizers and crop
protection products. Converted Organics expects to benefit from increased
regulatory focus on organic waste processing and on environmentally-friendly
growing practices.
