One can't deny that the oil companies have much money, and power, and will try to sway politics in the direction of continued dependence on oil, foreign, or otherwise. Oil supplies won't last for ever, and they want to get as much as they can for every last drop.
What I was trying to point out in my super tanker metaphor, is that it will take a long time to reduce our dependence on oil, just as it takes a long time to turn a super tanker. We have to start somewhere, and by investing in, and supporting companies like SSEV, maybe we can at least get the super tanker from the Middle East turned around, and headed back there.
Of course I also want to make money on the stock.
