I am at odds on the whole issue of God Vs. Money...The Almighty Dollar vs. Almighty God. It's a quandary for me personally.
I think there are two ways of thinking concerning Biblical prosperity.
1. If you obey God's commandments, give your tithes and offerings (including helping the poor), God will bless you with prosperity and abundance. Your seed will produce a harvest. This is old testament.
or
2. No one can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and Money. Do not store up treasure for yourself here on earth where all can be lost, but store up treasure in heaven where it will be safe forever. Sell all you have, give the money to poor and you will have treasure in heaven. If any man wishes to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
This is new testament.
One promotes giving to prosper in this life (old) and one promotes giving to prosper in the after life (new).
I think very few people are capable of the 2nd way. I'm not capable of it fwiw. Truth be known my thoughts and heart are geared towards this life and not so much the next. It's hard to overcome the needs, wants, desires, and concerns of this life. I wouldn't be in the stockmarket if I lived by the 2nd way.
