Asif Ansari has been a technical entrepreneur for over 20 years, and has been a strong and life-long proponent of solar energy. He has founded more than a dozen successful companies in renewable energy, aerospace, alternative transportation, engineering and manufacturing, and global retail while leading the development and commercialization of over 20 technical products in the clean tech and aerospace markets. He is the founder and CEO of Suntrough Energy, Inc. a Chatsworth, California-based solar energy technology company whose primary focus is nothing short of creating a paradigm shift in the way solar energy is deployed around the world. The company is founded on the fundamental premise that a sustainable renewable energy future for the world is rooted in the ability to deliver economics that are competitive with fossil fuels without government incentives. The company is pioneering a new product class; the fully packaged 2.5 MW “plug and play” solar thermal power plant (CSP) for distributed power generation while providing 32,000 GPD of pure desalinated water. Applications range from the industrialized countries, to targeting the 1.6 billion people in the developing world that have no access to grid power or clean drinking water.
Asif was also the co-founder and former CEO of eSolar Inc, a Pasadena-based company considered as the world leader in solar thermal technologies, and often described as the “Google of Clean-Tech.” He was also the co-founder and CEO of Omni Systems, a California-based aerospace company where he led the design of NASA’s Lunar Prospector Spacecraft, a lunar resource mapping mission that was successfully launched in 1998. He also co-founded and served as the COO of Tesla Technologies one of the world’s leading manufacturers of compressed natural gas (CNG) re-fuelling station equipment as a less-polluting alternative to gasoline for transportation.
