I agree K this it too important of a job and despite the appearance of normalcy at all times it requires concentration in case something does happen and needs immediate assistance.

When Robbie was first contemplating signing up for the Marines it was going to be full time and he wanted to be a Pilot...a helicopter pilot to be exact. To do so he would be required to have at least two years of College and was advised to pick an Aircraft related field so that it would make it easier to transfer once he had those credits.

His first choice was Air Traffic Control...this was not by coincidence. Right after Robbie had his visit to the recruiter, one of my customers needed his AC system changed out. He happened to be an ATC...so we spent plenty of time discussing the job and its requirements...the stress..and the benefits. He talked about the stress level at length even when everything seemed to be moving normally. He said that periodic vacations are required because of the stress of the job. Much of the stress is there because there is just too much at stake for any mistakes to happen because of a lack of concentration. That being said..I was surprised to read about the kids even being allowed in the tower..

Just a note..Robbie decided to instead pursue another field in the Marines. His ambition at the time was to join the Austin Police Dept. after the Marines and join the SWAT team..He wanted to be a Marine Sniper to prepare him and THAT cost him a trip to the principals office and me a trip to the school.

It seems in his Computer class..The instructor wanted the students to go through a job booklet and use information contained in the booklet to write a paper on what they want to be. Robbie was busy writing his paper on the Computer when she came by and noticed he wasn't using the book. She let him know the project consisted of him using course guidelines contained in the book and to incorperate that information into the paper.

Robbie let her know there was nothing in the book that would help him in his career choice. She told him that she was sure there was and to read it again. Robbie let her know that where was nothing in the book that would help him to become a Marine Sniper...she immediately frieked out told Robbie not to ever mention that word again or he would be in trouble...He of course had to ask~~~~~What is wrong about wanting to be a Marine Sniper??

Book him Dano...smile
