Baidu and Google Dominate Wireless Search in China

China reached a daily wireless search volume of 315 million in the fourth quarter of 2009, with a 6.7% rise quarter on quarter, Ren Yanghui, an analyst at Analysys International, a leading advisor about the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) industries in China, said in a report released on February 25, 2010.
The top eight were Baidu Inc. (Nasdaq: BIDU), Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG), Easou.com, Yicha.cn, 3GYY, Soso.com, Wukong.com, and Youdao.com. Baidu had a 26.6% market share by search volume, Google 23.6%, Easou.com 13.3%, Yicha.cn 13.1%, 3GYY 10.8%, Soso.com 5.7%, Wukong.com 3.4%, and Youdao.com 1.6%.
In the fourth quarter, the nation had a daily wireless search pageview of 1.131 billion. Baidu also ranked first with a 31.1% market share. Google took a 19.8% slice, Easou.com 15.1%, Yicha.cn 15.0%, 3GYY 9.0%, Soso.com 3.5%, Wukong.com 2.8%, and Youdao.com 1.4%.
In short, Baidu and Google, the two search engine giants, still held half of the Chinese wireless search market.
China reached a phone user base of 1.061072 billion in 2009, with a net phone user augment of 79.467 million, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China announced in January 2010.
