Here's the word I got from Scottrade:

Scottrade uses a different transfer agent than Computer Shares. (Sorry, I can't recall the name.)

At any rate, Scottrade said they're on the case and they would indeed automatically transfer the shares over through their "Foreign Depository Department".

I tried calling the SEC to get a sense of how long such a process would take. The guy at the SEC was truly a defensive dolt who misunderstood my question and failed to listen to my correction of his misperception. (No wonder the government is dysfunctional - all these folks just trying to keep their jobs and trying to sound important.)

At the the end of the day, one can only wait for wheels to turn at the brokerages.

ps. I also emailed Computer Shares and they said that: "there was no record of your name appearing on the Australian CDI Register".

All this delay is probably just as well. Hopefully, it will calm down the volatility somewhat and people will be more inclined to hold for more news.
