OT: I don't agree with what Tiger did either. I think it's wrong and very hurtful to a spouse. And people on the outside are so quick to judge, criticize, and condemn others in their wrongdoing. It's human nature I think. But since outsiders don't have all the information to judge another's wrongdoing, nor do we know the true heart in a person.....judgement is best left to God. The people who judge others the harshest are so often the ones who do these very things themselves. As for adultry, Jesus raised the bar quite a bit by saying if you even look at another woman with lust in your eyes, you have committed adultry in your heart and since God knows all hearts and minds within...you become subject to judgement yourself by God and can be in danger of hell. That being the case, I want God to forgive me my sins....so I must forgive others their sins. He will hold me to the same standard I hold others too. I don't want to be judged by Him, so I will not judge others. I don't want to be condemned or criticized by Him, so I won't condemn or criticize others. It's hard not to look at the speck in your brothers eye, when you may have a log in your own. First remove the log in your own eye and then PERHAPS you will see clearly enough to see the speck in your brothers.
One scripture verse that scared me stright was this....
If you don't forgive oethers their transgressions and sins, God will NOT forgive you yours! This sets the tone for the saying the Merciful shall obtain Mercy.
I want mercy, so I definitely will give it and leave the judging to the an all knowing, all righteous, all holy God.
imho!
Hope that helps someone. And please don't take offense to this post.
