C.,

The idea is to partake in a discussion, not carry on a monologue. The problem that arises on boards which have people that are banned is, IMHO, one of intolerance. Intolerance and lack of respect for opinions that differ from those of the MODERATORS. It is the equivalent of putting your hands over your ears, closing your eyes & shaking your head to & fro not wanting to hear anything that is different from what you believe.

In my opinion, as I am sure you already know, there is a reason that the ability to ban is a good thing.

And before I tell you why, please let it be noted I only think so for the non-stock boards.

The NOLIB board was set up as a place where like minded people could go and discuss things without having to deal with the opinions of people we didn't want to listen to.

Sort of like your home away from home. IOW, if someone comes into your home and acts like a butthead, you ask them to leave. If they won't leave. You have to call the police.

I am one of the police on the NOLIB board.

There are other political boards I help manage where opinions are rarely stiffled.

RantsPA and Simply Politics are a couple.

In fact, Swampboots inane post is still on the GOV board for all to see.

And as you stated, if you don't like the fact that I can ban you, start your own board and ban me.

Since I don't wish to get the argument going all over again, this will be all I currently have to say concerning the subject.

Have fun,
Phil
