Following Micky's post about talking about other stocks I would like to mention (not recommend) a stock that was brought to my attention by friends in the "oil patch"......Ivanhoe Energy (IVAN). Very briefly.....they have a proven and patented technology to convert "heavy" oil into "light". There is mucho "heavy oil....(has to be shoveled/scooped/mined out of the ground) located around the world which is now seriously being addressed due to need for new supplies of oil. This compnay was founded and run by a very well known and successful Canadian miner
who has "struck it rich" in various mining ventures worldwide and has established many "good" connections in various countries. Their main management team comes from Occidental Pet. (former top-executives) and thus is now referred to as "little Oxy". Oxy was a world wide operator and producer and these people have their former contacts in place. The former Canadian Prime Minister is now with the company. In short, IVAN, now has prime arrangements (and ownership) in the Canadian (Alberts) oilsands, a huge Field in Equador presently drilling, a large virgin field with mucho potential in Mongolia (the head of IVAN lives in Singapore and has a smaller Chinese oil company so has contacts) where it's sister company Ivanhoe Mines (IVN) has large gold and copper mining operations in Mongolia. And is now meeting with countries (basically working thru the countries) world wide for new "deals". I have owned this stock for a couple of years and have bought it from .35 cents to $2.00/share. Stock closed yesaterday at $3.48 and is owned by many top institutions. It is being touted as one of next "up and comers" by investment services with a potential for a huge upside. News is pending on the first well drilled in Equador which was announced as completed about 10 days ago. This news should be favorable as this oil was close to the surface, light and not heavy oil, and could be seen seeping up from the ground. Thus far they have financed everyting thru their stock and warrants issued....but, I feel, as their operations grow, a joint venture $$$ partner(s) will be required, and sooner rather than later. By working thru the countries, and not companies,
deals seem to be working faster, permits gotten quicker, etc.

If you feel that there is going to be a larger shortage of oil in the world, then this would be, imo, something to look at. The fields in which they are developing will last many years....ie, the Euqador agreement in for 30 years with add-ons if agreed to.

Again, not a direct recommnedation, but mentioned here for information, because of Micky's request via the Administrator. IDCC and IVAN are my largest holdings.

IVAN has been good about letting their shareholders know what's going on.
