Some additional interesting facts:
FTD data starts on September 27, 2007. Prior data isn't showing.
The Forbes chart data starts on May 16, 2007 and ends on November 30, 2007....
Therefore, at the moment I have incomplete data for 2007 and will use May 16, 2007 through November 30, 2007 and based upon this timeframe we find:
2007 YTD Trading volume = 15,669,700
2007 YTD FTD's = 590,636
3.77% of all trades were FTD's during the time period 05/16/07-11/30/07.
2007 YTD FTD's from 09/27/07-12/31/07 = 8,274,636. Again, missing the complete YTD Trade volume.
2008 YTD Trading Volume = 2,324,197,903
2008 YTD FTD's 736,528,841
31.69% of all trades were FTD's during the time period 01/01/08-12/31/08.
2009 YTD Trading Volume = 3,250,301,337
2009 YTD FTD's = 340,236,932
10.47% of all trades were FTD's during the time period 01/01/09-12/31/09.
The total FTD's from September 27, 2007 through present = 1,085,040,409
The number of FTD's for the 1st Quarter of 2009 were considered one of the highest in the entire US Stock market by actual total fails.
