...Rheingold HAS to have a new formula...

...I drank it a few times in the early to mid-70's, and I'll tell you that that beer was NOT very good...an acquired taste to say the least...

...I remember one Easter night (1975 or 76) when me and the boys could not find an open deli or bar in Westchester...we wound up somewhere around Allerton Ave where one of my buds ran into some social club where all they would sell him was Rheingold...we knew at the time it was an "old man's beer", but we had no choice...bottom line : it sucked and we called it an early night...

...the original Rheingold was probably quite typical of the beers drunk by the WWI and WWII vets...nothing fancy...no "bouqets" or "fancy aromas"...a hard beer for "hard men"...

...that's just the way it was...Schaeffer, Schmidt's, Schlitz, PBR...there was dozens of 'em...

...sure am willing to give the new one a try, but it's not likely to be at the top of my faves list anytime soon...Duke...
