I am very familiar with the patent process after being involved in a patent infringment lawsuit with a company for over 2 years. Our founding fathers designed patent laws whereas the person with the patent has to disclose every little detail of that becomes public knowledge upon receiving your patent. They did this to spur competition, now I believe your patent is good for 17 years and is available for people to view and do whatever with but they cannot copy your design, they can however design around it. Dennis is pretty smart by going with provisional patents as the design is not published. I spent 3 days getting pounded by attorneys in a deposition and 3 weeks being educated by our attorney on patent laws and what to say and what not to say. It was a very fun period in my life if you know how much I hate attorneys.
